Sudipta Sarangi, head of the Department of Economics, recently was honored with the Virginia Tech 2019 Alumni Award for Excellence in International Research. He was given the award at a ceremony on May 2. Sarangi joined the College of Science faculty in 2015. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Delhi in 1991, a master’s degree from the Delhi School of Economics in 1993, and a master’s degree in and Ph.D. in 2000, the latter two from Virginia Tech.
