Martha Ann Bell honored with Alumni Award for Research Excellence
Martha Ann Bell, a College of Science Faculty Fellow and a professor in the Department of Psychology, has been awarded the Virginia Tech 2020 Alumni Award for Research Excellence in the “social sciences, humanities, or arts”
Sponsored by the Virginia Tech Alumni Association, the Alumni Award for Excellence in Research is presented annually to as many as two Virginia Tech faculty members who have made outstanding contributions in the area of research. Honorees are nominated by alumni, students, faculty, and staff. Recipients are awarded a $2,000 cash prize.
Bell is also an adjunct professor in the Virginia Tech School of Neuroscience and an affiliated faculty member of the Department of Human Development and Family Science, part of the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
She joined Virginia Tech in 1996. Bell earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics from Carson-Newman College in 1978, a master’s degree in child and family studies from the University of Tennessee in 1983, and a Ph.D. in human development from the University of Maryland in 1992.
