Geosciences’ Richard Law to be honored by Geological Society
Richard Law, a professor in the Department of Geosciences, recently is being awarded the 2019 Coke Medal by The Geological Society of London.
Named for Major John Sacheverell A'Deane Coke and Major Edward D'Ewes Fitzgerald Coke, the Coke Medals are presented annually to "geoscientists for their contributions to science... in addition to significant service to geoscience.”
The award was presented June 6 in London at the Geological Society’s President’s Day.
A member of the Virginia Tech community since 1987, Law is a GSA Fellow whose research has focused on tectonics of active and ancient collisional mountain belts, structural geology, and deformation mechanisms.
