Mike Walsh is the assistant dean of advancement in the Virginia Tech College of Science, where he leads the advancement team, which includes development, alumni relations, and communications and marketing professionals.

Prior to joining Virginia Tech, Walsh was senior director of development for the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University. His responsibilities included managing frontline fundraisers for major gifts and leadership annual giving as well as supervising communications work. He also filled an interim role as the college's executive director of major gifts.

Walsh received his associate’s degree in environmental studies from Keystone College, his bachelor of science in geography with an emphasis in environmental studies and planning from Radford University, and his master’s degree in organizational leadership from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two children.
